Serial bag snatcher arrested in Ondo.

Men of the Ondo State Police Command have arrested a suspected serial bag snatcher, identified as Stephen, in Akure, Ondo State capital, for snatching a bag containing N1.057million from a bank customer.

The suspect who was apprehended by the member of the public after snatching a bag containing over N1m from the customer and was beaten to coma by the angry youth around the area.

It was gathered that the suspect who had been trailing the bank customer identified as Muyiwa Oludare from the bank, pounced on him in front of the bank and snatched the bag containing the money from him.

The suspect who had contracted an Okada operator who stayed at the opposite side of the new generation bank in Alagbaka area of the State capital.

The victim was said to have raised an alarm which attracted the member of the public who pursued the suspect and the motorcycle rider while they had a head-on collision with another motorcyclist.

It was gathered that the motorcycle somersaulted while trying to escape by driving against the traffic but the victim was unlucky and was apprehended and was beaten to coma.

It took the intervention of the men of the Ondo State police command to save the suspect from being set ablaze by the angry mob while the security operatives handed over the money to the owner.

There are several reports of snatching of bags by suspects around commercial banks across the state by robbers who pose as commercial motorcycle operators.

Confirming the arrest of the suspect, the State Police image maker, Mr Femi Joseph said that the suspect was in the police custody and said the matter was still under investigation.
