A 20-year-old man, Abubakar Haruna, has been remanded in Katsina prison  for allegedly  attempting to kill his father over a misunderstanding.

The accused allegedly attacked his father, Haruna Ilele, with a stick “with the intent to kill him”.

Also remanded along with Haruna were  Tukur Mani, 25, of Gazarwa village; Ibrahim Mohammed,18, of Leletu village; and Sani Idi , 25, of Yarsanta village.

The defendants will be in the prison custody till  November 19, 2018, when their case  would come up for mention before Hajiya Fadile Dikko of  the Katsina Senior Magistrates’ Court.

The charges against the defendants border on criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide and  belonging to gang of thieves, which the  police said were contrary to sections 97,95 and 306 of the Penal Code.

The police First Information Report revealed that Haruna, of Makuka village in the Danmusa Local Government Area of the state, had invited Mani from Gazarwa village, who allegedly attacked his father with a  stick with the intention of killing him.

The four accused persons  were also alleged to have committed other crimes, including burgling of shops at Yarsanta and Leletu villages where they allegedly made away with items worth N120,000.

They also allegedly stole  a bull valued at N120,000 belonging to one Rabe.

The animal was  said to have been returned to its owner by some repentant cattle rustlers.

Police prosecutor, Inspector Sani Ado, said on Thursday that investigation had been concluded, adding that the case file had been sent to the state Ministry of Justice for legal advice.

He, therefore, prayed the magistrate for an adjournment while the accused persons were remanded in prison.
