How Police Arrested Suspected Killers In Niger.

The Niger State Police Command said on Sunday that it had arrested Simon Jacob, 26 and Schamsudeen Mohammed, 28, of Yangalo Village in the Magama Local Government Area of the state for murder.

The suspects were reportedly trailed and apprehended by a team of policemen attached to Nasko Division of the state.

It was learnt that Jacob and Mohammed were arrested for allegedly killing one Abubakar Aliyu, 25, with a stick for allegedly stealing money belonging to one Gabriel Andrew, a patent drug dealer, in the same area.

Northern City News gathered that the victim, a friend to Andrew, was said to have been in the habit of stealing his money, until he was caught by the suspects who attacked him with a stick.

Checks revealed that Jacob hailed from the Kcheia Local Government Area of Kaduna State, while Mohammed is from Umaru Local Government Area of Zamfara State but they both lived in Yangalo village in the Magama council.

Jacob told Northern City News that Aliyu had sneaked into Andrew’s room and made away with an undisclosed amount of money, while the latter was away in Abuja.

He said, “I and Mohammed heard some unusual sound in the room and when we wanted to open the door, it was locked from inside. We forcefully opened the door and saw somebody, whom Mohammed hit with a stick while I grabbed him from the back and pulled him down.

“We never knew that he was going to die; we were trying to protect ourselves so that the victim will not harm us before he was brought down,” Jacob explained.

The command Public Relations Officer, Peter Sunday, confirmed the incident, stating that the victim died while receiving treatment at Kontagora General Hospital.
