Police smash notorious robbery gang in Plateau.

The Police  in Pankshin Local Government Area of Plateau have smashed a notorious robbery gang that operates around Chip District of Pankshin and part of Shendam Local Government Area.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Mr Tyeopev Terna, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Pankshin.

Terna gave the names of the robbery suspects as, Clifford Vincent a.k.a. Darkman, Sunday Samuel a.k.a. Yellow, Mukot Irmiya a.k.a. LL and Dagyong Luka a.k.a. Boy One.

He said that the suspects were arrested following a tip-off after a robbery incident on Oct. 14 at Baban-Lamba village where they stole cash and other valuables worth millions of Naira.

“The robbery gang had been terrorising residents of Chip Districts and some villages in Shendam local government Area bordering Pankshin and mounting road blocks along Panyam-Shendam road to rob travelers.

“On Oct. 14, the gang swooped on residents of Baban-Lamba in Chip district and robbed eight houses including one in Shendam local government area bordering Pankshin, ’’ the PPRO  said.

“When we arrested and conducted a search on them, we recovered four sophisticated guns, including a military gun, and 14 assorted cell phones, among other things, ’’ he said.

Terna said a manhunt had been launched for other members of the gang who had gone into hiding after the arrest of the four suspects.

“The suspects have confessed to committing the crimes but we are still investigating the matter to make sure that their accomplices are arrested to face the wrath of the Law

“We believe with this breakthrough, the people of Chip district and travelers along that axis will witness a level of peace and sanity from now on, ’’ Terna said.

He called on the general public to always cooperate with the security agencies to ensure the security of lives and property in the state.
