In Kaduna, on Wednesday morning, two patrol marshals of Kaduna State Traffic and Environmental Law Enforcement Agency (KASTELEA) escaped been lynched by angry mob over allegations that they were responsible for a tricycle accident at the popular Katsina roundabout.

While they KASTELEA officials fled the scene, they abandoned their power-bikes which were summarily set ablaze. The mob were said to have fled the scene before the arrival of  without remorse and fled the scene before the arrival of armed security men.

Eyewitnesses accounts alleged that the KASTELEA men were the ones pursuing the tricycle which led to the accident.

According to them, the KASTELEA men were trying to run away from the scene of the accident but were caught up by the mob just about 50 metres from the scene of the accident.

But on the contrary, Assistant General Manager, Provost of KASTELEA, Benson Bivan, who rushed to the scene said his men were only trying to rescue the accident victims when miscreants mistook them for causal agents.

Bivan, however, vowed to get to the roots of the matter and fish out the perpetrators of what he described as ‘unfair treatment melted to people who are on their constitutional assignment’.

The two injured occupants of the tricycle were immediately rushed to the hospital while one of the marshals could not been found by his superiors and neither his mobile line was available as at the time of filing this report.
