Enugu Based Man Rescued from Kidnappers Unhurt.

An Enugu based man,  Prof. Nduka Eya, has been rescued from the claws of kidnappers unhurt. One of the Suspects was caught with a Locally made gun in the Operation.

The Incident happened at Ezillo Street, Independence Layout, Enugu on Thursday evening.

The Enugu State Command's Spokesman, SP Ebere Amaraizu, said that Prof. Eya was rescued at about 6.30a.m

Hear Amaraizu:

“The operatives of the Anti Kidnap Unit of the command through intelligence information and coordinated operation conducted in the early hours of Saturday, Aug. 5, rescued Prof. Nduka Eya.

“He was rescued unhurt by the police operatives following an operation carried out in a forest along Enugu-Abakiliki Expressway;  one suspect  was arrested.

“A locally made gun was recovered from him." 

The command’s spokesman said that the suspect was  currently helping the police operatives in their investigations.

“The rescued academician and statesman has been re-united with his family while manhunt is on for other suspects involved in the abduction,’’ he said.

NAN recalls that Eya was a former Secretary General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo,  an umbrella body of the Igbo socio-cultural group spanning nine states in the country.

He was also commissioner for education in the old Anambra.
